Homemade barbeque sauce sweetened with dates

Homemade barbeque sauce? Sure, why not. Since it is almost impossible to find barbeque sauce without added sugar in the store, we thought we would offer you our secret recipe that we always use when we grill.

You cook this sauce together in 30 quick minutes and it is suitable both as a sauce on the side, a marinade or as a glaze to brush on while grilling. A barbeque sauce should taste both sweet, and hot and smoky, and this sauce does so thanks to the garlic, chili, dates and the smoked paprika spice.

So, what are you going to serve with it? Feel free to try brushing the sauce on vegetables such as fennel, lace and zucchini. Maybe serve with some new potatoes that you either boil or roast in the oven, and then toss in a herb vinaigrette made of olive oil, lemon, chopped parsley, chopped chives, salt and pepper? Serve a little of the barbeque sauce on the side as well. An absolutely perfect barbecue plate in our opinion!
