How to Make a Chia Egg
Easter is about to hop around the corner, and this year the kids will get chia eggs instead of regular eggs. Just kidding. But since Easter is packed with egg recipes, we challenge you to think outside the shell. It’s about time we provide you with a really good substitute for regular eggs.
It’s simple, you need:
1 Tbsp chia seed flour
3 Tbsp water
Grind a small quantity of chia seeds into flour using a coffee grinder. It only takes seconds. Add the flour to a small dish and top with 3 Tbsp water. Stir and let rest for 10 minutes, until gel-like and thick. This equals 1 egg. Double the recipe to substitute 2 eggs. Easy as a pie.
Tip!
Make them in advance! But remember, chia seeds are extremely perishable so if you grind a larger amount for later use, store the chia eggs in an airtight container in the freezer.
