Avocado Smoothie with Ginger and Coconut

The most commonly asked question on our blog is about our blender. What’s important when choosing your blender is to go for a “high speed blender”. Not because it sounds fancy, but because certain ingredients require a blender with a very strong motor. Like avocado seeds, for example. Some blenders can’t handle it, some will break, but the really strong ones will easily pulverize the entire seed.
We use the high speed blender from Bosch, and it effortlessly blends any ingredient into a smooth liquid. However, we advise you to only use half of the avocado seed (or a small one), or it will taste bitter.
Avocado Smoothie with Ginger and Coconut
(2 servings)
1 avocado
1 small, or 1/2 large, avocado seed
1 large green banana
1 inch fresh ginger
2 handful fresh spinach
1 fennel bulb
1 organic lemon, juice + zest
2 cups coconut water (or tap water)
Cut, peel and pit the avocado. Use a sharp knife to cut the seed into halves. Peel the banana. Clean the fennel bulb. Wash the lemon carefully, and grate the zest. Mix the avocado + seed, banana, ginger, spinach, fennel, lemon juice + zest, and coconut water, until smooth and creamy using a high speed blender. Add some water to get the right consistency.
