Secret smoothie ingredient
Listen carefully now because, believe it or not, we’ve tried something new, again. We have a brand new secret ingredient in our smoothies: 1 tablespoon of fermented vegetables. It goes hand in hand with our New Year’s resolution: to add two tablespoons of fermented vegetables to our plates at mealtimes. They increase the nutritional uptake, and gives a boost to the good Luke Skywalker bacteria in the intestines. Above, you see a smoothie made from kale, kiwi, ginger, oat flakes, water and sauerkraut. We call it our sauerkraut smoothie.
You’ll find different jars of fermented vegetables in most healthy grocery stores (in the fridge). Just make sure it’s unpasteurized, because friendly bacteria like lactobacillus will be destroyed by pasteurization.
